Therapy at Stretchy Minds.

Connection, play, creativity, a felt sense of safety, and empowerment are the foundations of all therapy with us.

Sessions are strengths-based and principally child-led. Through play, the child’s interests and targeted activities, children and young people gradually grow their skills and capacity to participate in daily activities. They learn more about their unique abilities and how to problem solve their way through challenges.

We are all different, with a unique constellation of strengths, challenges, needs, and offerings, and that is exactly the way nature intended it to be. Just like biodiversity is necessary for the health and wellbeing of the natural world, neurodiversity is essential for the health and wellbeing of the human world. At Stretchy Minds, we are so passionate about creating a safe space for all neurotypes.

What about parents, guardians, siblings, grandparents, aunties and uncles? Families are systems – each part of the system is incredibly important to the smooth running of the whole family unit. Family-centred practice means the wellbeing of the other family members is just as important as the wellbeing of the child. We aim to empower parents and other people around the child with knowledge and strategies to look after themselves; to link in with additional supports where needed; to support their child’s development in between therapy sessions; and to make the day-to-day that little bit easier.
