Kahli Joyce.

Hello, my name is Kahli and I am the principal Occupational Therapist and Director of Stretchy Minds Paediatric Occupational Therapy. I am an incredibly passionate Occupational Therapist who loves to empower children, young people and families with the skills, confidence and knowledge to thrive in their everyday lives.

I completed my Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Australian Catholic University, graduating with First Class Honours and an Executive Dean’s Commendation in 2016. Since then, I have worked in paediatric private practice, serviced schools in both metro and remote areas, and conducted assessments at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

I also love to learn and to share what I learn; in conjunction with Monash University, I have been extensively involved in research that investigated the experiences, service needs and overall health and wellbeing of parents of children with a disability. I have collaborated on research papers and presented at two national Occupational Therapy Conferences.

I am an avid yogi and love to be upside down! I teach yoga to both adults and children over at Tidal Flow Yoga. I am a new mama to my little love Lila and honestly think childhood development is simply extraordinary. When I am not at work, you would likely find me taking my fluffy groodle Penny for a walk, practising my handstands, writing and drawing, going to the beach, or spending time with my friends and family.

Special Interests and Clinical Experience.

I love to talk about neuroplasticity – the power of the brain to wire and rewire itself – and this served as the springboard for Stretchy Minds Paediatric Occupational Therapy!

I have worked with children with a range of strengths and challenges, having worked in Out of Hours School Care, school holiday programs, and at the Royal Children’s Hospital. I also designed and implemented a handwriting program in a Victorian primary school, and spent three years delivering play-based therapy as part of a Son-Rise Program®.

I take a holistic approach to therapy, tailoring my approach to suit the unique needs of each child and family. I have experience working with children and adolescents with challenges related to: living autistic in a neurotypical world; sensory processing differences; anxiety; Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders; social emotional difficulties; regulation and behavioural challenges; complex/chronic and acute trauma; Chronic Fatigue Syndrome; intellectual disability; Cerebral Palsy; neurological disorders; and autoimmune diseases.

I have a love of learning and am continually seeking new opportunities to broaden my skillset and enhance the effectiveness of the therapy I provide. I completed extensive training in the Son-Rise Program® and continue to undertake training in the DIR Floortime® model of intervention, integrating a focus on child-led learning and play into my practice. I also have experience using the Cognitive Orientation to Daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) approach to teach motor skills (such as handwriting and tying shoelaces), and incorporate executive problem solving into therapy. I am also experienced in using the Zones of Regulation® concepts developed by Michelle Garcia Winner to empower children to monitor and manage their emotions, and to navigate social situations.

I am also a keen yogi and love helping children and adolescents find their ‘zen’; I am a certified Adult and Kids Yoga teacher, with additional training in Trauma-Sensitive Yoga.

Lucy Cheung.

Hi, my name is Lucy. I am an Occupational Therapist of Stretchy Minds Paediatric Occupational Therapy.

As an alumnus of Monash University, I completed my Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) in 2022. Before landing in this wonderful place, I had numerous experiences working with children through volunteering, working as a private tutor, and placement in private service providers, special schools and mainstream schools in both Hong Kong and Melbourne.

I love yoga and laughing in pain with my lovely yogis from Tidal Flow Yoga. I am also teaching kids yoga at the moment, which essentially combines two of my favourite things together - children and yoga! When I am at home, you will know because the entire house smells like butter and sugar; and when I am out, I am either hiking on a sunny, chilly day or exploring this amazing city with my partner.

Special Interests and Clinical Experience.

Our environment is filled with different sensory stimulations, and it is okay to feel overwhelmed - because I do too!

I dedicated my honours research project to investigating the relationship between children’s interoceptive awareness and self-regulation. The mystery and complexity behind interoception, that is, the sense of ourselves, draw my deep interest in this topic.

I have worked with a wide variety of children from Hong Kong and Melbourne, through informal volunteering and structured fieldwork. In addition to my research project, I developed and delivered an interoceptive awareness training program for children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders and/or Autism diagnoses in CREST (Hong Kong), a private paediatric occupational therapy service provider. I also have experience working with children and young people with intellectual disabilities, sensory processing and integration challenges, social anxiety, social-emotional difficulties, and regulation and behavioural issues. I believe that input from families, and significant stakeholders, along with the needs of our little ones, makes the best comprehensive care plan.

I have participated in the international data collection project for the development of a new paediatric sensory assessment tool - Evaluation of Ayres Sensory Integration (EASI). Through participation in such a project, I was qualified to be one of the very first EASI testers in Hong Kong. Moreover, I am a certified Irlen® Screener who can identify people with Irlen Syndrome, a perceptual processing disorder relevant to light sensitivity. Currently, I am working on my way become fully certified in ASI, hoping to deliver ASI intervention to children with sensory integration difficulties.

Leo Lee.

Hi, I am Leo, an Occupational Therapist here at Stretchy Minds Paediatric Occupational Therapy.

I completed my Bachelor of Occupational Therapy with Honours at Monash University, and before joining this fantastic team, I gained a wide range of experience working in paediatric private practice, community healthcare, and both mental and physical rehabilitation. My journey has taken me to different environments, allowing me to work with children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds, which has truly enriched my approach to therapy.

Outside of work, you will often find me playing soccer with friends, sharing laughter, or enjoying the great outdoors with my dog, Beanie, and my partner. Whether it is hiking in the mountains or spending time at the park or beach, being out in nature is where I recharge.

Special Interests and Clinical Experience.

I have had the opportunity to support children with Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Intellectual Disability, sensory processing, and social-emotional difficulties at different private paediatric clinics, both in Melbourne and Hong Kong. These experiences have deepened my understanding and passion for helping children overcome challenges and reach their full potential.

I am passionate about building strong relationships with each child and their family, and I believe that these connections are key to helping children thrive. I am dedicated to creating joyful, meaningful experiences that support a child’s growth. The trust we build together is what empowers children to achieve their goals and milestones, allowing them to shine in their own unique way.

I am always eager to learn and grow in my practice. I have completed the "Traffic Jam In My Brain" course, which focuses on sensory processing, and I am continuously exploring new knowledge, particularly in sensory modulation. I love incorporating principles of regulation, child-led, and play-based therapy into my sessions, creating a safe and supportive environment where every child can explore, create, and grow with confidence.

Continuous professional growth is something I am really committed to. I make it a priority to stay informed on the latest research and techniques, ensuring that I provide the highest quality therapy to the children and families I work with.
